HADITH BY ABU JAMRA FROM SAHIH AL-BUKHARI

Found in: The Book of Knowledge
Narrated: Abu Jamra

I was an interpreter between the people and Ibn 'Abbas. Once ibn 'Abbas said that a delegation of the tribe of 'Abdul Qais came to the Prophet (SAW) who asked them, "Who are the people (i.e. you)? (Or) who are the delegates?"

They replied, "We are from the tribe of Rabi'a."

Then the Prophet (SAW) said to them, "Welcome, O people (or said, "O delegation (of 'Abdul Qais).") Neither will you have disgrace nor will you grieve."

They said, "We have come to you from a distant place and there is the tribe of infidels of Mudar intervening between you and us and we cannot come to you except in the sacred month. So please order us to do something good (religious deeds) and that we may also inform our people whom we have left behind (at home) and that we may enter Paradise (by acting on them.)"

The Prophet (SAW) ordered them to do four things, and forbade them to do four things.

He ordered them to believe in Allah (SWT) Alone, the Honourable and Majestic and said to them, "Do you know what is meant by believing in Allah (SWT) Alone?"

They replied, "Allah (SWT) and his Apostle know better."

Thereupon the Prophet (SAW) said,"That means to testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah (SWT) and that Muhammad (SAW) is His Apostle, to offer prayers perfectly, to pay Zakat, to observe fasts during the month of Ramadhan, (and) to pay Al-Khumus (one fifth of the booty to be given in Allah's (SWT) cause)."

Then he forbade them four things, namely Ad-Dubba, Hantam, Muzaffat (and) An-Naqr or Muqaiyar (These were names of pots in which alcoholic drinks used to be prepared).

The Prophet (SAW) further said, "Memorize them (these instructions) and tell them to the people whom you have left behind."

HADITH BY ABU MUSA FROM SAHIH AL-BUKHARI

Found in: The Book of Knowledge
Narrated: Abu Musa

The Prophet (SAW) said, "The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allah (SWT) has sent me is like abundant rain falling on earth, some of which was fertile soil that absorbed rain water and brought forth vegetation and grass in abundance, (And) another portion of it was hard and held the rain water and Allah (SWT) benefited the people with it and they utilized it for drinking, making their animals drink from it and for irrigation of the land for cultivation. (And) a portion of it was barren which could neither hold the water nor bring forth vegetation (then that land did not give any benefits).

The first is the example of the person who comprehends Allah's (SWT) religion and gets benefit (from the knowledge) which Allah (SWT) has revealed through me (the Prophet) and learns and then teaches others.

The last example is that of a person who does not care for it and does not take Allah's (SWT) guidance revealed through me (He is like that barren land).

DUA FOR TRAVELLING ON A VEHICLE

"In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful."
"May peace and blessings of Allah be upon you."

Alhamdulilah, I am leaving tomorrow to Kuala Lumpur for a few hours and I thought this would be the perfect time to share a dua to ask Allah S.W.T to protect us during our journey. The dua should be recited before driving your car, before taking-off of a plane or riding train and etc.

I hope this benefits you.

Bismillahirrahmanirahim

Subhanal-lathee sakh-kharalana hathaa wa ma kunna lahu muqrineen. Wa 'inna 'ilaa rabbanaa lamunqaliboon.

FAVORITE ISLAMIC/MUSLIM APPS ON IPHONE

"In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful."

"May peace and blessings of Allah be upon you."

Here are my three favorite Muslim apps for iPhone. I think these apps are enough for me and I'll tell you why I love them so much.

1. Muslim Pro
This app is everything. It has a:
- Qiblah finder
- prayer time which automatically adjusts the time of prayer according to where you are in the world
- mosque finder
- halal restaurant finder
- collection of Duas
- tasbih
- zakat calculator
- digital Quran (with free 10 mins audio, full recitation if you pay for premium)

I got the premium for about USD 7 just because I love this app so much.

2. Athan
Almost like the Muslim Pro, it has a:
- Qiblah finder
- mosque finder (but only 50 mile radius)
but that's it. The reason why I downloaded the app is because it has a prayer log and you can review your prayer activity/habit.

3. Ramadan Legacy
Think KPI (Key Performance Indicator). This app logs:
- Tarawikh prayers
- your five daily prayers
- read juz
- days fasted (great for women to remind how many days we've missed when that time of the month drops by)
- goals (for example, this Ramadan, you want to read a story of a Prophet)
and it has a live news feed of other Ramadan Legacy users which motivates you to become a better
Muslim.

Now I'm just waiting for Ramadan Legacy 2016.

I hope you find this beneficial.

Much love,
Naqiyah.

DU'A BETWEEN TWO SUJUD (PROSTRATIONS)

"In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful."
"May peace and blessings of Allah be upon you."

In between the first and second sujud (prostrations), I sit and recite this doa:

 رب ﺍﻏﻔﺮ ﻟِﻲ ﻭَﺍﺭﺣﻤﻨﹺﻲ ﻭَﺍﺟُْبرﻧﹺﻲ وارفعني ﻭَﺍﺭﺯﻗﹾﻨﹺﻲ ﻭَﺍﻫْﺪِﻧﹺﻲ وعافني واعف عني

Rabbighfirli warhamni wajburni warfa'kni warzuqni wahdini wa'afini wa'kfu 'anni

"O my Lord forgive me,
bless me with Your Mercy,
fulfill my needs,
elevate my status,
give me sustenance,
give me guidance,
bless me and forgive me."

ALHAMDULILAH

"In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful."
"May peace and blessings of Allah be upon you."

I'd like to briefly talk about gratitude. Alhamdulilah, there are so many things to be thankful for. Take a moment and realize the countless things Allah s.w.t has given you without you asking for it. Don't wait for some things to go wrong in your life for you to be thankful for the many things that are going right.

WUDU' (ABLUTION)

"In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful."

"May peace and blessings of Allah be upon you."

Wudu' (ablution) is a ritual ablution, cleansing certain limbs of the body from minor impurities using pure water. Wudu' is always a recommended act in Islamic rituals but it becomes obligatory in certain circumstances. For instance, it is obligatory before establishing the salat (prayers).

"O ye who believe! When ye rise up for prayer, wash your faces, and your hands up to the elbows, and lightly rub your heads and (wash) your feet up to the ankles."

(Al Qur'an 5:6)

PERFORMING WUDU'

There are six fard or basic elements of wudu' and if any of these elements is missed, the wudu' becomes batil (void) and invalid. These elements are:

1. Reciting the niyyah or intentions for wudu'

Nawaitu raf'al hadathil asgari lilahi taala
"I cleanse myself from minor impurities for Allah, the Most High."

2. Wash the face. The face is what is between the forehead and chin, ear to ear.

3. Wash both arms up to the elbows.

4. Wiping part of the head (from the crown of the head to the hair-line. Wiping of the head can be performed on any part of the quarter of the head which is over the fore-head. The act of wiping can be done with one finger only, but it is recommended to use three fingers together. The water must reach the root of the hair).

5. Wash the feet up to the ankle.

6. Follow the above order.

CONDITIONS OF WUDU'

1. Muslim

2. Mumayyiz (able to perceive between good and bad)

3. Clean from major impurities

4. Using water that is pure and unmixed (mutlaq).

5. The organs of wudu must be exposed, in other words, there should be nothing on them which might prevent the water from reaching the skin.

SUNNAH OF WUDU'

1. Start by silently saying:

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Bismillāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm
"In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful."

2. Washing both hands up to the wrist.

3. Rinsing the mouth.

4. Cleansing the nostrils by sniffing the water and blowing it out.

5. Begin washing the right limbs firsts.

6. Rub the while head with water or with wet hands.

7. With thumbs and fingers, rub both ears.

8. Wash all the limbs with wudu' three times.

9. Rub between fingers of the hands and feet.

10. After completion, saying the kalimah shahadah:

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَاإِلَــــهَ إِلَّا اللهُ ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُوْلُ اللهِ
Ashhadu alla ilaha illalah, wa ashadu anna muhammadar-rasulullah
"I testify that there is no god but God, and I testify that Muhammad is God’s Messenger."

ANNULMENT OF WUDU'

1. Discharge of urine (and semen).

2. Stool.

3. Farting.

4. Menstruation and post-natal bleeding.

5. Sleeping.

6. Drunkenness from alcohol or drugs.

7. Unconsciousness.

8. Madness or insanity.

DUA AFTER WUDU'

Ashhadu alla ilaha illallahu wahdahu lasyarikalah, wa asshadu anna muhammadan 'abduhu warasuluh. Allahumaaj'alni minat tauwabina waj'alni minal mutatahhirin waj'alni min'ibadijas-solihin.

"I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, He is One and has no associate. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. O Allah, join me with those who repent of their sins again and again, and join me with those who keep themselves neat and clean at all times, and join me with those who are abiding."

PATIENCE IN ISLAM

Hello darlings

There will be days when your patience is tested. Islam teaches Muslims to be patient and to be at their best behaviors at all times. Anger, I've learned, is a waste of time and emotional energy. The Quran constantly reminds us that Allah (swt) wants us to be patient and that the rewards are immense:

"And obey Allah and His Messenger; and fall into no disputes, lest you lose heart and your power depart; and be patient and persevering: for Allah is with those who patiently persevere."
(Quran 8:46)

"And Allah loves those who are firm and steadfast."
(Quran 3:146)

"And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk."
(Quran 76:12)

"Those who persevere will truly receive a reward without measure."
(Quran 39:10)

And here are ways to calm you down according to the Sunna:

1. Since anger comes from Syaitan, you should seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Syaitan. Say:
A’uzu billahi minash Shayta-nir-rajim
"I seek refuge in Allah from Shaitan, the accursed one"

2. If you are standing up, sit. And if you're sitting down, stand.

3. A person should remain silent.

4. Peform Wudhu (Ablution).

5. Perform Ghusl
